Brian & I have started this blog to keep our family and friends updated on our adoption from Ukraine. We are in the process of hoping to adopt 1-2 children age 1-6 years old. We recently had our documents submitted to the SDA and are currently waiting for an appointment and hope to hear by maybe the end of August. Once we get an appointment date we'll travel to Ukraine and see pictures of child(ren) that match our criteria - upon selecting a picture of child(ren) we wish to see -we'll be allowed to go to the appropriate orphange and get a chance to meet and interact with the child(ren). Should we decide to adopt the child(ren) we will begin the process of getting a court date, which takes approximately 1 week. After we are done with court the next step is to wait out the mandatory 10 day waiting period - at which time we can continue to bond with our child(ren). After the 10 day wait is over we then go back to Kiev and start the process of getting the paperwork finished in order to come back home. Total time in Ukraine is approx 4-6 weeks. Wish us well on this exciting journey we are about to embark on.
